After reading countless reviews and testing it on my own Sony A7 III,
here is my definitive summary of the Meike 35mm f/1.8 Pro.
For around $330, the build quality honestly punches way above its price tag.
It features a sturdy metal mount, weather sealing, and a physical aperture ring.
At just 400g, it is incredibly light and balances perfectly on my RS 3 Pro gimbal.
I also use a step-up ring on its 58mm thread to fit my existing Variable ND filters.
When it comes to image quality, center sharpness is excellent even wide open.
It delivers great micro-contrast and a beautifully smooth bokeh roll-off.
However, the internet consensus confirms what I’ve seen: wide open at f/1.8,
you will definitely notice some heavy vignetting and softer corners.
Thankfully, the vignette clears and the corners sharpen up brilliantly by f/4.
For video workflows like my "Sound of Stuff" channel, this is a hidden gem.
The STM autofocus motor is virtually silent, fast, and highly accurate.
It locks perfectly onto subjects and works flawlessly with Sony’s native Eye-AF.
Even better, there is almost zero focus breathing when pulling focus in video.
Is the "Pro" badge perfectly equal to a $1,500 Sony G-Master? Probably not.
But if you can forgive the wide-open corner softness, it is an absolute workhorse
that perfectly complements my 85mm for all my wide-angle indoor shooting.
